  • Provided care support and service coordination to Americans facing chronic health conditions with daily living challenges – including those living with Alzheimer’s disease, navigating the acute to post-acute care continuum, seeking mental health and substance abuse treatment, and receiving end-of-life care.

  • Advised a high-profile U.S. Senator on aging, health, mental health, and complex care issues that influenced value-based Medicare and Medicaid reform.

  • Designed and led the communications and policy strategy for a $230 million aging-focused foundation, producing year-over-year results in care system transformation and sparking the Master Plan for Aging movement.

  • Advanced an implementation-science research agenda to halt inappropriate medication prescribing practices affecting low-income, chronically ill older adults living at home.

Gretchen holds a Ph.D. in gerontology from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan, and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
